Continental Airlines Inc. said on Wednesday that a closely watched measure of revenue jumped as much as 19 percent in August, and the parent of US Airways said Thursday that August traffic rose slightly from a year ago but revenue per passenger grew faster, a reflection of higher fares and fees.

Representatives from ATP were among the exhibitors at the recent FltOps.com Job Fair on August 28th in Atlanta.

Continental and United airlines have assigned a large share of their domestic flying to regional partners. Under their proposed merger, they both want to keep using these partners to help transport their passengers.

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., today reported traffic for the month of June 2010 and for the second quarter of 2010. The airline reported that revenue passenger miles, (RPMs) and load factor represent new all-time records for the month of June and the second quarter. Enplaned passengers also represent a new second quarter company record.

The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today reported that passenger revenue, based on a sample group of carriers, rose 20 percent in July 2010 compared to the same month in 2009, marking the seventh consecutive month of revenue growth.

The number of passengers buying premium airline tickets increased in June as economic recovery kept first and business class seats filled, the airline industry body IATA has said.

SkyWest, Inc. reported a 2.3 percent increase in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for July, while available seat miles (ASMs) increased 3.5 percent compared to the same period last year.  The combined airlines generated 1.79 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs increased to 2.17 billion. Passenger boardings for July totaled 3,581,599 a 5.3 percent increase from July 2009.

A recent pilot hiring poll taken by Kit Darby Aviation Consultants found that 92 percent of pilots hired by Major Airlines held a bachelor's degree. The same poll reported that at least 60 percent of pilots hired by the Regional Airlines held a bachelor's degree. While these statistics show that a college degree is not required to secure a job with the airlines, it is highly desired and makes you a more competitive candidate for an airline pilot first officer position.

JetBlue Airways Corp. said Tuesday its July traffic rose 8.3 percent from a year ago, as capacity rose.
