SkyWest Inc., which runs regional carriers SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, said on Friday that its August traffic rose 8.5 percent.
The combined airlines generated 1.67 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or one passenger flown one mile. Capacity rose 5.7 percent to 2.05 billion available seat miles (ASMs), from 1.94 billion in August 2008. Load factor was up 2.1 percentage points to 81.5 percent compared to 79.4 percent for the same period last year.
The company reported flying 1.67 billion revenue passenger miles, or one passenger flown one mile, up from 1.54 billion a year ago.
SkyWest Airlines, based in St. George, Utah, and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc. (ASA), based in Atlanta, Georgia are wholly owned subsidiaries of SkyWest, Inc. SkyWest Airlines operates as United Express, Delta Connection and Midwest Connect carriers under contractual agreements with United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Midwest Airlines. ASA operates as a Delta Connection carrier under a contractual agreement with Delta Air Lines. System-wide, SkyWest, Inc. serves a total of approximately 209 cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, with approximately 2,400 daily departures.
