American Eagle Airlines is the regional partner of American Airlines, one of the largest scheduled passenger airlines in the world. American Eagle operates over 1,800 daily flights to more than 150 cities across the US, Canada, the Bahamas, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Frontier Airlines Holdings maintained its successful ways in July, reporting its ninth straight month of operating profit Thursday.

Southwest Airlines Chairman, President and CEO Gary Kelly said the airline is "seriously considering" operating international flights soon and also remains interested in acquiring troubled assets from rival carriers following its failed bid to purchase Frontier Airlines.

Allegiant Travel Co., which operates Allegiant Air, said Monday it expects its departures to grow by 35 percent in the third quarter compared with the same period last year.

Republic Airlines, Midwest Airlines Inc.’s new owner, is promising to restore many of the routes that were cut over the past two years, now that it has completed its acquisition of the Oak Creek airline.

Fort Lauderdale-based Gulfstream International Group said second-quarter profits reached $2.2 million, compared with a $3.5 million loss in the year-ago period.

Hawaiian Airlines says it’s hiring, highlighting a bit of good news in the airline industry. The Honolulu Advertiser says the carrier "has hired 100 employees in recent months and plans to add 170 more by early next year to meet the company's growth needs as it prepares for the first of its new Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Recent hires have included aircraft mechanics, service representatives, contract agents, ramp agents, maintenance and cleaning personnel. The new hires going forward will include 25 new pilots and up to 30 flight attendants, the company said. Hawaiian will take delivery of its first long range Airbus A330 next April."

"Republic Airways Holdings’ bid to buy bankrupt Frontier Airlines won out over a higher bid by Southwest Airlines after pilots leaders for Southwest and Frontier could not agree on how to combine their two groups, according the USA Today. The paper adds "Republic's $108.8 million bid for all of Denver-based Frontier was selected by a federal bankruptcy judge in New York late Thursday over Southwest's $170 million bid for 80% of Frontier and its Lynx regional subsidiary."

Southwest Airlines bid for Frontier has fallen through, according to a statement released by the airline.

July’s passenger total of 961,418 was the most carried by the Denver-based airline in a month since 1.01 million rode Frontier jets in August 2008.

Hawaiian Airlines said Thursday its traffic jumped 10.4 percent in July on a slight increase in capacity.

SkyWest, Inc., which owns and operates Skywest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), reported an 8.9 percent increase in revenue passenger miles for June, while available seat miles increased 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Southwest Airlines bid $170 million on Monday to purchase Frontier Airlines, well above the $108.8 million offered by regional jet operator Republic Airways Holdings Inc according to the Associated Press.

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. posted $6 million in profits for second quarter 2009, a drastic bounce back from the $13 million net loss in it posted in second quarter 2008. This represents an increase of 107% over net income of $3.5 million in the second quarter of 2008.

JetBlue Airways Corp. said Thursday its traffic increased in July -- the first month-over-month improvement for the low-cost carrier in nearly a year.

Mokulele Airlines has opened its new corporate headquarters and maintenance facility at Honolulu International Airport, one day after Indianapolis-based Republic Airways increased its majority stake in the airline.

Republic Airways Holdings says it has completed its acquisition of privately held Midwest Airlines for $31 million in cash and debt according to the Associated Press.
